Four Books Sold!

I’m up to four books sold!

Does this mean things are starting to move? I keep reading about authors who are selling lots of books- some in the thousands and even tens of thousands. My friends and family think these people are not being completely truthful about their sales. I refuse to believe that. If you couldn’t sell books, #Amazon never would have become the giant they are today.

All you have to do is look at the top Amazon book sales. The proof is there. The best rated #self-published books have 20,000 reviews. The top ranking books sell over 3,000 books a day. And there are hundreds of books in that category.

The point is, it can be done. People don’t have to lie about their numbers. How do they do it? They have help. People buy their books, read them, post reviews and tell others about the book. That’s the kind of help I need right now. If you’ve read my book, please post a review.

I keep having the same nightmare- the one where everybody thinks my book stinks, but they don’t want to tell me and make me feel bad. And they don’t want to go public saying something is good, when it really isn’t. Fortunately, when I wake up, nobody is in my room shouting “boo!” But, I can’t get over this feeling that everybody’s true inward feelings aren’t what they are expressing to me verbally. So far, my brother is the only one brave enough to voice his strong negative opinions about my writing.

Regardless what my fears are telling me, I’m going to continue marching forward with my marketing plans:

  • Create an Ambassador kit for those who are willing to help me get the word out.
  • Join a listopia program on GoodReads
  • Setup paid advertising on Facebook, Bookpub and Amazon
  • Create some Tiktok videos? maybe?
  • Write some articles for Young Adult Book blog sites
  • Contact YouTube hosts to be on their talk shows that discuss books.
  • Create my own YouTube channel and upload some book related videos.
  • Setup a virtual and in-person book tour.
  • Join the Indie Author Project
  • Send my book to some book reviewers.
  • Enter my book into some contests.
  • Setup a free eBook giveaway.

And there are more ideas coming in every day. Here’s a cheat-sheet I made up:
