Amazon is Taking Over

Amazon is taking over and sales clerks at local stores are helping them.

I needed a new #wellTank for my house. You know, that thing in the basement that feeds water to your sinks and tubs and toilets. Well, mine is leaking and I need a new one. So I went to #Lowes in #Middletown to buy one.

While searching the aisles, I asked a worker for help. But help was the last thing I received. Instead, the man acted like I was bothering him. He was rude, unhelpful, and tried to ignore me. That’s when I said “I really need help, but it’s obvious you have no interested in helping me.”

He went on trying to justify his attitude, telling me that I asked for a pressure tank, but they are called well tanks. He acted like he couldn’t possibly understand what I wanted. Dude, a well tank is a pressure tank. And it wouldn’t have taken much of a conversation to learn that’s what I needed.

Attitude is a big deal when it comes to sales. Sometimes there are different names for the same item and when you’re dealing with the public, it’s your job to decipher that, not become rude. I went home, looked it up online, and saw that the tank I needed was right in front of the salesman when he was being rude to me. He never took any time to help me figure it out. He was acting like a childish jerk. I know children who are more helpful (thank you, kids).

The biggest advantage stores have is their sales teams. They have actual people on the floor who can help the customers, something online stores can’t do. But, if the sales person doesn’t try, that store is no better than buying online. I told him “Thank you” and left. I went on #Amazon’s website, found the product without a sales person’s help and pressed “buy now” with free shipping.

Hello people. Wake up. If you work in a store and you want to keep your job, do the right thing. Treat your customers well. My computer will never give me an attitude.
