Teddy Bear Picnic

Today is Teddy Bear Picnic Day. I shot this photo of an abandoned teddy bear near New Paltz where the Thruway crosses the Wallkill River. It was one of the times when boosting the color saturation of the camera made all the difference. I think I maxed it out. The bear and the spray paint were sun bleached. At the time of the photo, the lighting was very flat, so I used Photoshop to add the shadows on the bear. The before and after pictures along with how to recreate the technique are in my next version of the Photographer’s Guide to the Hudson Valley, which is still in the making.
