Take a Hike

Breakneck RidgeToday is Take a Hike Day #TakeAHikeDay. In an age where people circle the parking lot to find the closest spot so they don’t have to walk, we need to get out and hike more often. Hiking is great exercise and it introduces you to the area you live in. I’ve hiked 1,100 miles of the #AppalachianTrail in 1988 and it felt great. I wish I could do it again, but responsibilities prohibit it. Instead, I go out after work and weekends. This photo was taken in July as I hiked up #BreakneckRidge in Cold Spring. Other great hiking spots in the Hudson Valley include #Minnewaska, #Mohonk, #Harriman, #FrannyReese, not to mention all the great rail trails in the area. The most popular one being #WalkwayOverTheHudson. Click on any of these links for more information. If you are interested in outdoor photography and want to find great places to take pictures including hiking, waterfalls, old buildings and more, try my book, Photographer’s Guide to the Mid-Hudson Valley available on Amazaon. The guide also explains how to take great photographs.
