Am I an interesting person?

Lately I’ve been very concerned about building a network of readers for my books, however, I haven’t made my novels available to the public yet. I’m not sure if I should present them to an agency first, and if I do, which one? This has lead to a dilemma. How does one gain followers when there is no book to follow? Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Which comes first, your book or your followers? I posted this question on a writers helper forum and a member posted the following response, “People don’t follow books, they follow people.” Wow! that was an eye-opener.  Now all I have to do is become a person, an interesting person. Is my life exciting enough for people to follow, even without a published novel under my belt? I mean, what have I done today that’s worth posting about? I changed the cat litter box and later I’m going to mow the lawn. Yawn! boring!

“All we ever do is go for a picnic on the moon.” That was the ending line of a loony tunes cartoon where the main character thought his life was dull. All I ever do is hike, bike, canoe and sail all the mountains and rivers in the Hudson Valley, one of the most beautiful places in the country. I love photography and give presentations at libraries all through the valley. Yeah, I suppose I can be interesting enough to follow.
