Audio Book?

I finally did it. I started the process of creating an audio book. Not with my own voice. After many hours of research, I finally decided on using a website where producers (those who create audio recordings) are matched with authors (those who create the content). I am using ACX, to have my audio book produced. It is an Amazon owned company and it looks like a great place to find people who narrate books.

My biggest downfall is my sales history. Sadly, I have not done my due diligence with marketing myself and my books in the past. There are two methods to pay these talented professionals. One is to pay upfront. Madison Kleigh and the Onyx Stone will be approximately 9.7 hours long. At $100 to $250 an hour, you can see how expensive this can be. The second option is to split my royalties of the audio book 50/50 with the producer. It is a little sad that the royalty is split 50/50 when it takes me a year to write the book and they can read and edit their work in a week. Plus, I have the burden of marketing it, not them. Wow! The more I think about it, the more I like option number one.

Having little sales history could be a problem. Low sales don’t attract many producers. I have plans to increase my sales by performing at least one marketing task daily. I started a log on my computer to track my efforts which will double as an idea storehouse and reference for repeat events. Once my log has some significant entries, I’ll post it here. So, it all starts now.

Let the games begin!
