Lens too small?

Sometimes that cellphone camera lens is just too small for the job. So I went out and got a 22x telephoto. Which is roughly only a true 11x telephoto, but that’s still pretty cool.

I bought the lens in preparation for the smartphone camera #photography class I’ll be teaching at the #StonyPoint library this fall. Watch my website for the exact date.

This lens is a 22x telephoto which means it will magnify what the camera sees 22 times. However, all cell phone lenses are wide angle, most about 25mm or .5x magnification. Multiply 22 by .5 and you get 11. That means this lens will only magnify the scene 11 times. That’s still pretty cool though.

The kit also came with a 2x telephoto which means my smartphone camera will actually be 50mm, much better than the built-in 25mm. I can’t wait to try it out.
