Saving a Baby Snapping Turtle

Today is Wildlife Day.

I came across this hatchling snapping turtle as Mike and I were walking through Stewart State Forest the other day. It was tired and beginning to dry out, probably hunting for water after digging itself out of the ground. I carried it to the bog and turned it loose.

Animals and plants are very important to our wellbeing. The human race is growing exponentially and we are invading the habitats of these very important animals. Every year we lose numerous species of insects, animals, birds, plants, etc. The crazy thing is, without wildlife, we will die. Yet we keep killing it off. Soon it will be too late to recuperate. At this rate, the human race is doomed. We need to preserve these precious treasures from Mother Nature.
