Getting There

Getting There

Araresa – A parrot out of her time

People say getting there is half the fun, but I love it when I get to the end of writing a book. Although, I have to admit that I thoroughly enjoy the writing process- inventing the story, creating interesting situations and characters, not to mention the surprises that pop out as I write. But there is something special about seeing somebody enjoy my completed creation. That’s why I can’t wait to get this next book into the hands of my readers.

Today I have both good news and bad news. The good news is the second book in my Madison Kleigh series (Lost in the Amazon) is complete. Yes, I wrote the entire story. The bad news- it is not finished. It is too short. The current version is only just over 60,000 words. My goal is 80,000, about 75 more pages. Even though my target completion date was this Christmas, I decided to put it down for a few weeks, then look at it again with fresh eyes, thus extending my publication date into February. I have a couple people reading it, as it is, to get some valuable input as to how I might enhance the final version. I’ll keep you posted.

If you are interested in beta reading the current version, let me know. Be for-warned that it hasn’t been polished or professionally edited yet.

In the meantime, I have started book three (Ghosts in the Mist). This book brings out more hidden secrets of Madison’s adventurous life and family, especially her grandfather. I already have 10,000 words written and going strong.

Here’s to a great holiday season. Cheers!
